Team Simoco’s Xfin system has been successfully integrated into Epping Forest’s new radio communications network - the first fully integrated WIMAX, IP networked PMR solution.

Developed by partner CSUK, the pioneering PMR solution enables fully resilient broadband IP communication between Epping Forest’s three radio sites, with ample bandwidth for additional voice or application traffic as needs change.

This represents an innovative new application for the Xfin, making the most of its IP functionality to not only add value to Epping Forest’s radio network but also to secure valuable additional margin for CSUK.

By harnessing Xfin’s IP capability Epping Forest now has an effective IP-based wide area network, which not only provides enhanced communications but has also significantly reduced costs, removing the need for BT leased lines between the sites.

The Xfin solution enables all onsite staff, litter pickers, tree specialists, estate managers, constables and information officers to respond quickly to issues and changing circumstances by communicating effectively as one team, and ensuring the safety and security of the team.

With no recurring line charges, WIMAX offers the City of London an extremely cost-effective and futureproof solution, adding further value to the overall Xfin IP solution.

The Xfin IP system includes essential core features that staff at Epping Forest were looking for, including ‘Man Down’, ‘Lone Worker’ and AVLS functions. The system also offered immediate cost benefits and improved resilience, and easily supports the future integration of IP based applications.
